Meet Milo, Libby & Max!
Susan Arciero
I grew up in Westford, Massachusetts and spent my summers on Plum Island and Nantucket Island. My childhood influences and experiences have influenced me as an artist beyond measure.
I began my first picture book Nat, Nat the Nantucket Cat while an undergrad at the University of Massachusetts. After moving to Maryland, I began my second book, Martha’s Vineyard, and also studied at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. During that time, I met and married my husband and had two children while completing four additional picture books. My family and I moved to Vicenza, Italy, and for two years I embraced Italian culture, learning its language, exploring its cuisine and teaching classes in drawing and painting.
Recently, receiving my MA in Illustration at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I also completed the final picture book in a new seven book series.
Pinehurst, North Carolina is now my home that I share with my husband, three children, two Basset Hounds and one recently inherited Havanese.
Currently I am making an effort to take my work in a new direction. The need to add mood, value range and viewpoint has become more necessary to me. Walking in the woods, sipping tea, visiting the ocean, studying house plans and listening to music are my favorite pastimes. Check back soon to watch the process.
